Fosterton Loop

Fosterton Loop

Rating: Easy

Ride with GPS:

Easy 23 kilometer Loop ride from Dungog to Fosterton and return. About 210m of undulating climbing and it includes a great rest spot about halfway on the Williams river at Newells Crossing. This is also a fantastic spot for a quick dip on a hot day. Grade – Easy. Includes 3k unsealed road.

Don’t worry about the dogs in the river, they are mine and it’s very unlikely they’ll be there.

To start the ride head north down Dowling Street and across the Railway line. After crossing over Coorei Bridge the Williams River continue about 1k on Stroud Road. Please see the map below for the ride details. Follow the road until to reach a turnoff as indicated on the map below numbered from 1 to 3. You can click any number to see details and a photo of each turn. After the map is also a  ride description.

1. Turn left into the northern entry to Fosterton Loop. Continue on the Fosterton Loop, (This section has about 3kms of good gravel road, just be careful on the downhill left hand corners), until you reach:

2. The low level wooden bridge that crosses the Williams River. A good spot for a cooling dip. You will be dry by the time you get back to town. Continue up the road from the river and follow the undulations until:
